Looking down above Sweden from the plane I couldn’t help but be in awe of how clean and green the place is. So many trees, clean water, and not a single trash in sight. How I wish our country can learn and adapt some of their methods in keeping our environment healthy for everyone.
You can already see Scandinavian design as you step off the plane. I love designs that are simple ,modern, and incorporated with wood. So it was a jaw dropping moment seeing the flooring at the Arlanda Airport —so beautiful.
And you get a welcome greeting from the King and Queen of Sweden. LOL.
It was a quick , scenic 15-30min journey to my hotel by taxi. I chose Hotel Melody which is right next to the Abba Museum because my husband is an Abba fan and it was walking distance to the Vasa Museum. Considering I had only 2 full days in Stockholm- it was perfect. Transportation to the shopping areas was easy via ferry , train, or taxi. The hotel’s interiors are gorgeous ( our room was small but well appointed and the sliding door opens up to a little balcony with a view of the street). I enjoyed having breakfast (which was yummy) outdoors and cocktails in their restaurant.
The highlights of my stay in this beautiful city were:
1. Restaurang Kryp In located at the Old Town/ Gamla Stan
2. Abba Museum
A fun interactive museum wherein you can sing and dance a long with ABBA.
3. Lunch at Rosendals Wardshus
Located at Djurgården, it’s the perfect place to unwind and relax with a glass of rosé.
4. shopping in Biblioteksgatan
The biggest fashion brands are here.
5. Lunch at Ostermalms Saluhall / Lisa Elmqvst
6. Vasa Museum
This was built in 1628 and only stayed afloat for a few minutes . It is astounding to see this before your eyes knowing it took 333 years before they were able to salvage the ship as a whole in 1961. They mentioned it was the type of soil that the ship was laying on that was able to preserve it.
I’m grateful for the 2 full days I was able to explore Stockholm and I can’t wait to come back with my kids to explore the other parts of Stockholm and the other cities of Sweden.
