With three toddlers, all under 6 years old, our household grew up with Hi-5. For those of you who know Hi-5 (I am assuming you know them, that’s why you are reading this blog post), they replace characters every so often, but there is one mainstay that we all love — Stevie!!!
We heard that this was his final live show (House of Dreams), and at the show (that we watched last December 19/Saturday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World), so this show was extra special to us, even to hubby ๐
Titled “House of Dreams,” the stage was set for a fun slumber party with the Hi-5 cast, Ainsley, Dayen, Mary, Stevie, and Tanika. I love the concept, as happy dreams inspire children to be whoever they want to be and give them a great start each day.ย
I loved everything about the show. Not just the concept, but how seamlessly the production was able to tie-in all the characters, their “dreams” come to life, and all our favorite Hi-5 tunes. My personal favorite is how they used the disco ball (front, top and center of the stage), light up, and let the kids (audience) try to catch the “lights” (a.k.a. their dreams).
During intermission, we brought the boys out to check out the Hi-5 merchandise, and I instantly fell in love with Jup Jup!
Here is a photo of the price list, to give you an idea:
Going back to the show, the “House of Dreams” was filled with amazing visuals and fun props. I enjoyed Tanika’s cowgirl show the most, because of her cowboy accent, and pretty colorful horses). Ainsley had an rockstar underwater show, while Dayen had an outer space encounter. Mary did a fairy garden episode, with Stevie as the “king of the jungle.” For the finale, everyone was a superhero — definitely every child’s dream ๐
Our boys couldn’t stop dancing and singing. And admittedly, hubby and I were singing our way, too! And why wouldn’t they be? Hi-5 was recently adjudged Best Preschool Programme in the prestigious 2015 Asian Television Awards. It really hits across all cultures and backgrounds.
I was waiting for this part, as I feel like I wanted to say goodbye to Stevie, too! The Hi-5 crew gave him a tribute at the finale… and it got me teary-eyed.
I can tell that he is an amazing leader. Well, why would he last for nine years? And so sweet and supportive that his parents (Stevie acknowledged them, and they were standing a few rows behind us) joined him in this leg, to support him in his new venture as an author of a children’s book series called Super Dudes:
Oh, and don’t worry… Stevie announced that they just finished taping another season of Hi-5, so we will be seeing him on screen one more time.
So, if you haven’t bought tickets to the show, I suggest you do. You have today and tomorrow to catch the show. It’s an amazing feeling to see your children sing and dance, even hubby, too ๐ This one is definitely a memory keeper. Thank you, Jenna Sy ๐
