I decided to join my husband in Sweden towards the end of his conference. My friend, Chiko, suggested the app called Hipmunk to get the best fares and routes. I chanced upon Air China, it had the fastest route at 16hours to Stockholm and was very reasonable at a price of 600usd which includes insurance. My mistake was that I checked the reviews on the airline after purchasing my ticket. And it wasn’t good. The complaints were mainly delayed flights or/and missing luggage. So I was very nervous.
I arrived early morning at the NAIA terminal 1 for my 7am flight to Sweden. Checking in and passing through immigrations were a breeze at that time of the day.
They gave me an exit row seat and to my surprise I even had the whole row to myself 🙂
The layover at Beijing was only 2 hours so I decided to have a quick Chinese lunch and a 30minute foot massage at a pop up spa in front of my gate.
It takes 9 and a half hours from Beijing to Stockholm so I was thrilled to see that my seat had so much space because it’s a bigger plane this time. And again, no seatmates 🙂
The flight was turbulence free. I’m glad I brought my iPod because most of the shows were in Chinese. And the food wasn’t so good but that’s really not a problem for me because I rarely eat on the plane. But the flight was incredibly smooth and the service was good. I would probably fly it it again if and when I visit Stockholm but not if my kids are with me. Food and entertainment are vital when traveling with little ones , in my opinion 🙂
